About Northwest Center
Northwest Center has been at this since 1965, when four Seattle mothers refused to accept that their children with disabilities would be shut out of school. They helped write Washington state’s first law guaranteeing education for children with disabilities, years before any federal protections existed. What started as a school grew into a network of enterprises, employment programs, and community services that today serves over 14,000 people across the Pacific Northwest.
